MANNA

On July 17th, our church once again took part in Manna, serving dinner at the House of Prayer in Aliquippa . Chicken casserole, salad and dessert were served to a grateful group of 107 people.

On July 16th, Karen West, Audrey Martin, Pat Hillman, Linda Cochran and Lee Gourley worked in the kitchen here in over 100 degree weather to prepare the meal and the next evening, Bernie Ebner, Kathie D’Antonio, Carol Woollett, Audrey and Bud Martin and Lee and Dave Gourley served the meal and cleared at the House of Prayer. Again it was very hot.

Many thanks are due to all of you for your delicious cookies and generous monetary donations. There was ample money to cover all our food and enough leftovers to provide a meal the next day for 14 elderly residents living at Sheffield Apartments who are unable to come to the church for supper. It was an enriching experience for everyone.

MOVIE NIGHT

To be announced

Sunday School 2012 – 2013

Sunday School will begin September 9th.

We need some helpers to get things arranged and ready for our start up in September.  We have a vacancy for a teacher Grade 1 & 2 (can’t tell you how important that age is for children hearing and learning the stories of the Bible)

We are also adding a Jr. High Class this year – Grade 6-7-8-9.  We have children of that age coming and we want to keep them by offering them a class of their own.

Our curriculum is fun and easy to teach.  We would like to get a few volunteers so that you would not have to teach every week, maybe twice a month.

You can really inspire a young mind and help the church to grow as well.

Please sign the signup sheet in the folder and put your preference or call the church office.

I will give you a follow up call.

Thanks

Gary Ridgway

Director of Christian Education – Nurture

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN’S READING PROGRAM

Exciting new books for our Reading Program are on the way!  One I’ve already read is “I Am Nujood Age 10 and Divorced”.  It’s a nonfiction book about a ten year old girl in Yemen whose father married her to an older man when she was ten.  Amazingly she is able to divorce him, making the way for other girls to be rescued and to initiate hope for a change in this custom in the Middle East .

Another that also sounds intriguing is “The New Jim Crow” and another “Bad Girls of the Bible”.  Be sure to check out our Library and choose something to enjoy.

CHURCH SUMMER CAMP

SUMMERS HERE AND THE TIME IS RIGHT FOR:

Adventure, dance, horses, drama, swim, water, fishing, crafts, or a mixture of these and more.  Climb  a climbing wall, make new friends, discover the Bible in new ways, talk about God and Jesus in a comfortable setting how you want too.  Do things you only dreamed of.  End sentences in prepositions.  Its all at CHURCH CAMP !!!  Camp booklets are available on the Welcome Center in the Narthex.  See the pastor about scholarships if one is needed.  Looking for a summer job?  Staff positions are available.
